WHAT IS SPERM?

Sperm is the male reproductive cell produced in the seminiferous tubules in the testicles. This cell in the semen fluid reaches the uterus and fallopian tubes in the female reproductive system and ensures the fertilization of the egg. In addition to the sperm cell, semen fluid has citric acid, potassium, zinc, various enzyme and amino acid components.

In order for the sperm to perform a successful fertilization, it is expected to be healthy in terms of number, shape and movement ability.

Sperm health and viability are measured with a sperm test called a spermiogram. In sperm analysis, the number of sperm in 1 milliliter of semen, the size, shape and ability of the sperm to move correctly are tested. The volume of the sperm sample, liquefaction, PH value and seminal fructose levels are other factors considered in sperm testing.
