WHAT IS STYLE?

A stye is an inflammation of the sebaceous glands in the eyelid. Eyelash Inflammation of the tear glands responsible for oil secretion (meibomius glands) in the eyelid is called a sty. A sty looks like a red and painful lump near the edge of the eyelid that looks like a boil or pimple.

WHY DOES THE STYLE OCCUR?

A stye is caused by an infection of the sebaceous glands in the eyelid. Staphylococcus bacteria are usually responsible for most of these infections. There are various causes of inflammation of the sebaceous glands.

The first of these occurs when bacterial infections are transmitted to the eyes by frequent hand-eye contact. However, not following eye hygiene rules such as sleeping with make-up and not using clean contact lenses are among the reasons. Also, fat accumulation at the base of the eyelashes, called bilepharitis, or styes in the formation of dandruff are among the common causes.

WHAT ARE STYLE TYPES?

Types of shallots internal and external sty is divided into two. Internal ones are formed on the upper part of the lid, and external ones are formed at the base of the eyelashes. Much more common than internal styes, external styes usually start in an eyelash follicle, sometimes in a sebaceous gland.

Most internal styes start in a meibomian gland in the eyelid tissue. These strains on the eye as they grow, tend to be more painful than external styes.

HOW TO STYLE TREATMENT DONE?

Consult an ophthalmologist if you experience a condition as described above at the tip of your eyelids. An ophthalmologist will diagnose a stye with a physical examination. If he/she deems appropriate, he/she may recommend some ointments and/or drops containing antibiotics.

Stye will go away within 1 week if the eyes are kept clean, that is, if the hygiene rules are observed. During this time, your doctor recommends infection You can use relieving drops and pomades.

However, if the sty has been present for at least two or three weeks, if there is a hardening inflammation in the eye and if there is no improvement despite the treatments, surgical treatment can be resorted to; With a small incision in the eyelid, the infection is completely drained and cleaned. If the cyst is formed, it is destroyed in a way that will not be repeated.

The purpose of stye surgery is to drain the inflammatory substance accumulated in the stye and to treat the cyst by opening the clogged sebaceous glands.

After the lid area is anesthetized with local anesthesia, the fat accumulated in the lid is cleaned together with the surrounding walls. It is an operation of about 5-10 minutes.

The eye is left closed for a few hours after the surgery. Since the operation is done through the lid, there is no need for any stitching, it can be easily handled without leaving any traces.

After the operation, the eye is bandaged and opened the next day. There may be slight swelling and bruising on the eyelid, but this will pass in 5 days. Antibiotic drops and pomades are used for about 1 week.

You can go to work the day after the surgery, provided that the eye is bandaged. Check-ups are made on the day after the surgery and 1 month later or on dates that your doctor deems appropriate.
